Elmhurst University's student food pantry has moved to a larger space and expanded what it offers for the fall 2026 semester.

The pantry, called Jays Gotta Eat, now occupies an entire room inside The Nest, a student area in Niebuhr Hall, The Leader reported. Shelves carry gluten-free pasta, beans, rice, quinoa, toiletries and winter clothing including coats, hats and gloves.

Colleen Zavodny, director of Student Support Services and Intervention, said the move reduces barriers for students without cars, including international students and those who qualify under the federal McKinney-Vento Act.

The 2026–27 year is the first time the university is formally tracking pantry usage.

Students can request specific items through Student Support Services and Intervention.
