Villa Park drivers will need to find a detour Friday afternoon when Willowbrook High School's Homecoming Parade marches down Ardmore Avenue.

Ardmore Avenue will be closed from Park Boulevard to Highridge Road from about 4 to 4:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, according to DuPage High School District 88. Highridge Road also will be closed during that window.

The parade steps off at 4 p.m. from the Ruggard Gazebo at Park Boulevard and Ardmore Avenue and ends at the high school, 1250 S. Ardmore Ave. in Villa Park.

District 88 billed the event as the parade's "return." The school's boys cross country team went door to door along Ardmore on Monday, Sept. 21, handing flyers to businesses and residents to spread the word, the Willowbrook Athletics account posted on X on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

Homecoming week

The parade caps a weeklong celebration themed "A Night in Rio," running Sept. 21 through Sept. 26.

A dodgeball tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. On Friday, a Pep Assembly begins at 1:45 p.m. at the school before the parade steps off at 4.

Friday night games

After the parade, a flag football Homecoming game against Morton begins at 5 p.m. The varsity tackle football Homecoming game against Morton kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

Students marching in the parade are asked to wear class colors: white for freshmen, silver for sophomores, black for juniors and Columbia blue for seniors.

Dance and video

The Homecoming Dance is Saturday, Sept. 26, from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets cost $25 and are available at the school's bookstore.

For those who cannot line the route, District 88 said a video of the parade will be posted afterward on the district's website.
