A new memorial honoring York High School students who gave their lives in military service will be dedicated Saturday, Nov. 7, at 8:30 a.m. at the school.
District 205 announced the ceremony during the Oct. 21 Board of Education meeting and invited the public to attend. The memorial honors York students who died serving their country, according to the district's meeting highlights.
The ceremony is separate from York's annual Veterans Day event, which will take place Tuesday, Nov. 10, this year. The school moved the event up one day because a late start is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day itself.
Veterans Day assemblies across D205
Four elementary schools will also honor veterans this year. Bryan, Churchville, Edison and Field elementary schools plan assemblies. Field Elementary students will take part in a run event as well.
The events continue an annual tradition across the district.
