Naansense, a fast-casual Indian restaurant known for naan wraps and grilled kebabs, is planning to open at 116 N. York St. in downtown Elmhurst, one block from the Metra station. No opening date has been set.

The Hey Elmhurst community blog had listed an expected June 2026 opening for the restaurant, but as of a Patch report by David Giuliani published Wednesday, July 22, Naansense had not opened and no new timeline has been announced.

The restaurant currently operates a single location at 178 N. Franklin St. in Chicago's Loop, serving a weekday lunch crowd from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Its menu centers on naan wraps with a choice of protein and chutneys, alongside rice bowls and kebab plates. The restaurant also runs a catering operation, including a "Tikkawala" street cart for events. Hours for the Elmhurst location have not been disclosed.

Founders Hiran and Viral Patel, friends who grew up in Chicago in the 1980s, built the concept around Indian street food they encountered while traveling in India, according to the Hey Elmhurst blog. The restaurant runs a charitable program called "One Feeds Two," funding a school meal for a child in India with every meal purchased.

The storefront previously housed Hello Donut and Sweet Circle Donuts & Drinks; a candy store, Candycopia, also operated at the address earlier in 2026, though its current status there is unclear.

When it opens, Naansense will join two other Indian restaurants in Elmhurst: Salkara Indian Cuisine at 691 N. York St. and Maharaj Indian Grill at 117 N. Addison Ave. Naansense's fast-casual, street-food format distinguishes it from both, which offer full sit-down menus.

The Elmhurst location's lease terms, square footage, and construction timeline have not been made public by the city or the restaurant.
