Hiffman National, the commercial real estate management firm headquartered in Oakbrook Terrace, oversees more than 104 million square feet of property across the country, the firm announced Oct. 19.

The company said it crossed the 100-million-square-foot threshold as of September 2026, according to a company press release. Its portfolio spans 665 office, medical office, industrial and retail properties nationwide.

That portfolio started small. Hiffman National launched its property management platform in 2005 with four assignments in Illinois, according to the release. The firm is a division of NAI Hiffman, one of the largest independent commercial real estate services firms in the country, with a primary focus on metropolitan Chicago.

Carrie Szarzynski, executive managing director and head of management services at Hiffman, said in the announcement that much of the growth has come from existing clients asking the firm to manage additional properties as those clients expand into new markets. Szarzynski said that pattern has let the company grow alongside its client base rather than chasing new accounts.

Recent expansion includes a 1.8 million-square-foot industrial management assignment in Arizona, a new state for the firm. Hiffman also picked up a 167,000-square-foot downtown Chicago office property. The firm employs more than 160 people in its management services division and more than 275 employees overall, with offices in cities including Chicago, Houston, Indianapolis, Orlando and Charlotte, N.C.

In Houston, the firm's portfolio reached more than 2.3 million square feet by 2026, including a 200,155-square-foot, four-building office campus called Saddlebrook Place. Hiffman is providing property and construction management as that campus undergoes repositioning, according to the release.

Separately, Oakbrook Terrace city council minutes from June 23 show Dennis Hiffman, of Hiffman Realtors, presented a first-quarter office report to the council comparing office performance in Oakbrook Terrace with Oak Brook and the East Corridor. Those reports will be distributed quarterly, according to the minutes.
