A 68-year-old Elmhurst man was arrested for destroying a fence with a hammer at his home in the 400 block of North Van Auken Street, according to Patch.
Police charged the man with disorderly conduct about 4 a.m. Oct. 19. He has been arrested repeatedly, Patch reported.
The man's run-ins with Elmhurst police stretch back years. Earlier in October, he was charged with trespassing on a neighbor's property despite a court order barring him from doing so, according to a separate Patch report. He was released.
In April 2025, he was charged with attempted aggravated assault, criminal damage to property (two counts) and criminal trespass to property. Police alleged he tried to batter a neighbor with a metal pipe after knocking on the neighbor's door. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.
A week before that arrest, officers charged him with illegal dumping on a neighbor's property. A neighbor alleged he threw steaks into her yard toward her dogs. She told officers she suspected he was trying to poison the animals. The man denied that, police said.
In March 2025, police said he scratched the hood of a woman's car with broken glass in the 200 block of North York Street. In October 2023, police said he banged on a woman's front door in his block and damaged her screen and Halloween decorations. He was charged with criminal damage to property in both cases.
The fence arrest was one of five incidents in the latest Elmhurst police reports.
Stolen car
Police spotted a stolen car about 3 a.m. Oct. 20 after the driver ran a red light at York Street and Crestview Avenue. An officer tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled north on York. The car had been stolen in Wood Dale and was later recovered in a Bensenville parking lot.
Domestic battery
A 47-year-old Elmhurst man who lives on Elm Creek Drive was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at his home on a domestic battery charge. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.
Drug paraphernalia citation
Elmhurst police cited a 32-year-old Lake Zurich man on a charge of selling drug paraphernalia at a business listed at 575 S. York St. The police report described the location as a car repair shop, though Patch reported it was still working to confirm the business identity.
Driveway vandalism
Someone egged and spray-painted a driveway about 2 a.m. Oct. 18 in the 200 block of Crescent Avenue. A neighbor reported the incident to police.
