A 2025 Elmhurst University graduate has built a 70-member wellness community for young adults in roughly two months.
Gianna Colantuono, founder of the Elmhurst Wellness Society, told Patch the group targets 18- to 30-year-olds across Chicago's western suburbs. It has already hosted rave yoga, outdoor Pilates on the Elmhurst University campus and a Q&A session with a dietitian.
"Our goal is to make wellness fun, social, and accessible while creating opportunities for people in the community to connect with one another, especially post-graduation," Colantuono told Patch.
The society is a local chapter of the national Wellness Society. Membership costs $25 per month with no automatic renewal. Members choose which months to participate. The group holds two events per month, with four scheduled for October.
Colantuono is also planning a pickleball tournament with all proceeds going to breast cancer research. A date and location have not been announced.
The group is open to anyone in the suburbs. Details are available on its Instagram page or membership page.
