York Community High School's girls volleyball program carried a team GPA of at least 3.3 throughout the 2025-26 school year, earning the squad the 2026 American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the second consecutive season.

Elmhurst CUSD 205 announced the honor on Wednesday, July 23. The Dukes also received the award in 2025, making this the program's first back-to-back recognition from the AVCA.

The national award, given annually since the 1992-93 school year, recognizes high school and collegiate volleyball programs whose players maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale across an entire academic year. A total of 1,432 programs earned the distinction for the 2025-26 cycle, according to the AVCA.

"It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season," AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon said in a statement. "We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."

York competes in the West Suburban Silver Conference. The district credited both the student-athletes and coaching staff for the achievement.

Two programs hold the longest active streak nationally: Jonesboro High School in Arkansas and Ross S. Sterling High School in Texas have each earned the award 34 consecutive years. Programs with 10 or more consecutive honors receive additional recognition on the AVCA's published list.

The AVCA counts more than 10,000 coaches among its membership across collegiate, professional, high school, club, and youth levels. The award program spans all divisions and levels of play, from youth club teams to NCAA Division I programs.
