York Community High School girls tennis tryouts begin Monday, August 10, at Berens Park and run through Saturday, August 15. Daily sessions are scheduled between 4:00 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., with athletes split into groups by class year.
Varsity coach Kara Dollaske leads a program coming off a seventh-place finish at the IHSA state tournament. Caroline "CJ" Coan won the individual state championship and earned first-team all-state honors.
Girls tennis is a tryout sport at York, and cuts may be made depending on how many athletes register, according to the York athletics department website. Athletes must have a current physical on file and be registered with the Athletic Office before participating.
The Berens Park courts have been undergoing a full replacement project. The Elmhurst Park District reported in mid-June that the initial asphalt base was installed and courts were expected to reopen in July. The district has not confirmed whether the project is complete ahead of the August 10 tryout date.
District 205's summer athletic camps, including badminton and wrestling, concluded in late June and early July as fall sports preparation ramps up.
