Willowbrook High School in Villa Park opened fall sports registration on Sunday, July 12, with football tryouts set to begin Wednesday, August 5.

The Warriors' athletic department posted the announcement on its official X account, outlining two requirements for any student-athlete who wants to take the field: register through the SNAP Manage platform and upload a current sports physical. No deadline or fee information has been announced.

Football players report first. Tryouts start August 5, five days before the rest of the fall lineup. All other fall sports begin Monday, August 10, which is also the IHSA's statewide start date for football practices under the organization's expanded 2026 playoff format, according to the Chicago Tribune. That means Willowbrook football players will get their initial tryout evaluation before the official IHSA practice window opens.

First regular-season football games across the state are scheduled for Thursday, August 20.

Program context heading into fall

The registration window arrives during a strong stretch for Willowbrook athletics. The Warriors' girls flag football team reached the 2025 IHSA state quarterfinals after shutting out West Aurora 44-0 in the previous round, according to Sporting News coverage of the October 2025 state tournament at Willowbrook Park. Lillian Macias, a standout on that squad, was named Anyway's Athlete of the Month for June 2026, alongside girls volleyball player Maggie Hurley.

Girls wrestling head coach Mary Doro appeared on WCIU's Sports Edition with Kenny McReynolds in July 2026, discussing how she built the Willowbrook program from the ground up and the team's success on the mat during the 2025-26 season.

On Tuesday, July 14, Willowbrook alumnus Max Vaisvila, a 2022 graduate, signed a free agent contract with the New York Yankees.

Families can access registration through SNAP Manage. A current sports physical must be on file before a student-athlete can participate in tryouts or practices. The athletic department has not published specific deadlines, costs, or a direct registration link.
