Award-winning filmmaker Lorissa Julianus will return to Villa Park Public Library on Sept. 8 for "Morbid History – Murder Mystery Edition," an evening program promising true tales of high-society killings and Old Hollywood scandals.

The hour-long program runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the library, 10 W. Park Blvd. Registration is required through the library's event page.

Julianus last performed at Villa Park Public Library on Oct. 21, 2025, with an earlier edition of the Morbid History series that covered stories ranging from medieval corpse theft in Venice to iron coffins discovered in Chicago's Lincoln Park. The Sept. 8 program takes a different angle.

The library's listing describes this Murder Mystery Edition as covering high-society whodunits at Harvard, a Roman emperor who investigated a murder, deadly scandals from Old Hollywood and how a killer who once lived in Julianus's own house was caught. The library promises the stories are delivered with "energetic wit and flair."

Julianus is no stranger to Illinois libraries. She has brought variations of the Morbid History program to Lemont Public Library, Itasca Community Library, Orland Park Public Library, Bloomington Public Library and others. The series blends true historical tales with cinematic storytelling, aimed at adults who prefer their history with a macabre edge.

Her tagline, as published on the Villa Park library's listing for the Oct. 21, 2025 show: "Because you're just more interesting when you're dead!"

The program is listed under the library's Adult Services category. No ticket price appears on the listing. Residents can register online at vppl.info or call the library at (630) 834-1164 for more information.
