Villa Park residents will get live music, 13 food vendors, a bags tournament and a dunk tank featuring village officials when Villa Fest takes over the Ardmore Business District on Saturday, Aug. 22, for what organizers are billing as the village's inaugural community festival.

But first, the behind-the-scenes work. The Villa Fest Subcommittee, a body of the Villa Park Village Board, will hold a special planning meeting Thursday, Aug. 20, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. to finalize details two days before gates open. The meeting agenda is posted on the village's CivicClerk portal.

Village President Kevin Patrick's administration organized the event through the dedicated subcommittee, which has been coordinating vendors, entertainment and logistics for the daylong celebration.

The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Ardmore Avenue and Park Boulevard, with a "Big Rigs & Kids" event kicking off at 10 a.m. on Central Avenue between Princeton and Ardmore. Children can climb police cars, fire trucks and public works vehicles.

Nine acts will perform at the Rugaard Gazebo near the Illinois Prairie Path, according to the Villa Park Review. The lineup includes Catie Callahan, Sonny and the Eggrolls, the Rhythm Rockets, Seven Soul and headliner The Nobodies. The VFW hosts bingo from 11 a.m. to noon. Cash only.

Inflatable attractions including mini golf, a bungee trampoline and a wipeout course round out the kids' offerings. A bags tournament starts at 6 p.m. with a $30 cash entry fee; sign-up closes at 5 p.m. on-site.

LRS is the festival's gold sponsor, joined by MORE Brewing Co., DuPage Animal Hospital, Mike's Meat Market and more than a dozen other local businesses.

The Village of Villa Park promoted the event on its official Facebook page, confirming live music, bingo, a bags tournament, a dunk tank and craft vendors for the Aug. 22 celebration.
