The Elmhurst Park District's annual end-of-summer bash returns to Berens Park on Saturday, Aug. 15, with four hours of live music, eight food trucks, a beer garden and free kids' activities spread across the 65-acre park.

Park Palooza runs from 4 to 8 p.m. at 493 N. Oaklawn Ave., according to the Elmhurst Park District. Admission is free.

School of Rock Elmhurst opens the show from 4 to 5:30 p.m., followed by Bon Journeyed, a Chicagoland tribute act billed as the area's "Original & Ultimate Bon Jovi / Journey experience," from 6 to 8 p.m. Bon Journeyed features Chicagoland music veterans Tyler Holcomb and Matt Pablecas.

Most activities cluster around The Hub, the park's recreation center that houses an 18-hole mini golf course, a 6,000-square-foot spray ground and four batting cages. All three Hub amenities are free during the event.

Kids can also hit an inflatable slide and obstacle course, carnival games, a balloon twister and airbrush tattoo stations.

Eight food trucks line up for the evening: Billy Bricks on Wheels, Kimmer's Ice Cream, Kona Ice, Kori's Koop, Mario's Cart, Smallcakes of Elmhurst, Smash N' Roll and Travelin' Tom's Coffee Truck. Adults can grab drinks at the beer garden.

The park district calls Park Palooza its "annual end-of-summer bash," and the district's fall programming brochure is already available for families looking ahead.

Parking is available in Berens Park's east and west lots. The event is outdoors, rain or shine, with severe-weather updates posted on the park district's website and Facebook page.
