A Park Forest woman is in the DuPage County Jail after Elmhurst police arrested her on burglary and retail theft charges tied to a July theft at Kohl's, 303 Route 83.
Kimberly Plummer, 33, was taken into custody on Tuesday, July 21, according to Elmhurst police reports. Officers said surveillance video showed Plummer concealing clothing and stealing it on the morning of Saturday, July 11, at the Route 83 store. She faces charges of burglary and retail theft.
The arrest was one of several incidents Elmhurst police documented during the week of July 21–24.
Late-night trespass on South Stratford
A homeowner in the 800 block of South Stratford Avenue reported a trespass on Tuesday, July 21, after reviewing footage from her outdoor security camera. The video showed an unidentified man walking onto her property at approximately 2:30 a.m., according to police reports. No arrest has been announced in that case.
The homeowner's camera captured the man entering the property during the early morning hours, but police have not released a description of the suspect or indicated whether they have identified him.
Fraud and scam reports
The same week, Elmhurst police also documented financial fraud involving a senior at Bella Terra nursing home and multiple reports of social media sales scams, according to an EPD incident summary published Friday, July 24. Specific details on those cases, including dollar amounts and the methods used, have not been made public.
The fraud report at Bella Terra is notable for Elmhurst residents with elderly family members in care facilities. Scams targeting seniors often involve callers or online contacts posing as family members, government officials, or financial institutions. EPD has not described the method used in this case.
No arrests have been announced in the fraud, scam, or trespass cases.
