A single-story home on East Adams Street in Elmhurst sold for $1 million on Aug. 11 at $566 per square foot.

The 1,766-square-foot house at 116 East Adams St., built in 1965, is one of a growing list of seven-figure single-family closings across the city in 2026, according to Shaw Local property records. The home sits on a 7,841-square-foot lot and includes an attached two-car garage.

The Adams Street sale carried the highest per-square-foot price among comparable sales Shaw Local listed in the same report. A home at 142 East Quincy St. sold in February 2026 for $945,000, or $467 per square foot. A 2,863-square-foot house at 857 East Euclid Ave. sold in May 2026 for $1.29 million, or $449 per square foot. An earlier sale at 804 East Euclid Ave. closed in November 2025 for $740,000, or $321 per square foot.

Several other Elmhurst homes also sold above $1 million this summer. A newly built home at 153 South Kenmore Ave. topped the DuPage and Cook County weekly sales list when it sold on July 23 for $2.525 million. The five-bedroom, six-bathroom house, completed in 2026, spans 5,867 square feet. A 1,598-square-foot house at 106 North Evergreen Ave., built in 1903, sold on July 1 for $1.11 million, or $695 per square foot.

The pattern is broad. A 3,480-square-foot house at 281 West Elm Park Ave. sold on July 8 for $1.3 million. A home at 209 South Grace Ave. sold on July 28 for $985,000.

Those individual sales reflect a citywide climb. Elmhurst home prices rose 8.1% over the prior year for the three months ending in June 2026, with a median sale price of $700,000, according to Redfin. Zillow pegged the average home value at $647,169 as of July 31, also up 8.1% year over year. Elmhurst's gains outpace the regional forecast from DePaul University's Institute for Housing Studies, which projected Chicago-area median prices would rise nearly 5% in 2026, according to Illinois REALTORS.

For the week of Aug. 3, DuPage and Cook County recorded 268 residential sales at an average price of $564,716. Elmhurst's million-dollar closings ran well above that countywide average.
