Pedestrians walking in the 200 block of North Highview Avenue on Aug. 14 called police after a man in a car approached them and followed them to their home, according to Elmhurst police reports compiled by Patch.

The suspect, a 27-year-old who lives in the 400 block of North Emroy Avenue, was arrested around 3 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct. He was released.

The incident was one of at least five arrests Elmhurst police made between Aug. 14 and Aug. 16, spanning a residential block, two Route 83 stores, a hospital and a grocery store parking lot.

Glen Ellyn teen charged with burglary on Route 83

Ethan Bonifield, 18, of Glen Ellyn, was arrested around noon on Sunday, Aug. 16, on one count of burglary and two counts of retail theft. Police said Bonifield stole several pairs of shoes from Shoe Carnival at 195 S. Route 83 and also took items from the adjacent Whole Foods at 215 S. Route 83.

Bonifield was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Order of protection violated at Elmhurst Hospital

A 50-year-old Bellwood man was arrested shortly after noon on Aug. 16 at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road, on a charge of violating an order of protection. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Trespassing arrests on North West Avenue and at Jewel

A 39-year-old homeless man previously listed by police at an address in the 600 block of West Fay Avenue was arrested around 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, in the 400 block of North West Avenue for violating a no-trespass notice. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Separately, a 55-year-old Bensenville man was arrested around 4 p.m. on Aug. 15 at the Jewel store at 944 S. York St. on charges of trespassing and possession of open alcohol. Police said the man was intoxicated. He was released.

Retail thefts reported at iVape Bar and Kohl's

A person stole a tester vape around 6 p.m. on Aug. 15 from iVape Bar at 261 N. York St. No arrest has been reported.

Two people were caught on camera stealing merchandise from Kohl's at 303 S. Route 83 around 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 9. The theft was not reported to police until six days later. Kohl's was also the site of multiple retail theft arrests during the first week of August.

Separately, Villa Park police and more than 200 Illinois law enforcement agencies launched a statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" enforcement campaign on Aug. 14 that runs through Sept. 8.
