A 27-year-old Chicago woman was arrested on DUI and marijuana-possession charges early Saturday, Aug. 8, in the 500 block of West St. Charles Road, one of six incidents Elmhurst police handled across multiple neighborhoods over a 48-hour stretch.
Officers stopped the woman at approximately 2 a.m., according to EPD incident reports published by Patch. She was charged with DUI and marijuana possession by a driver, a specific Illinois offense for cannabis found in an operated vehicle. She was taken to the Elmhurst police station and released.
Car stolen overnight on South West Avenue
A red 2021 Honda Accord disappeared overnight Friday, Aug. 7, from the 300 block of South West Avenue. An EPD investigation is pending. No suspect information has been released.
The city's license plate reader program, renewed by the Public Affairs & Safety Committee in June, has been used to interdict stolen vehicles entering Elmhurst, according to committee meeting records. Detective Commander Matthew McCollum told the committee the cameras have also helped locate missing and endangered persons.
E-bike, iPhone thefts
A black Letric e-bicycle with a small cargo rack was stolen from Elm Creek Drive sometime between 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, and 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9.
Separately, a woman reported her iPhone stolen at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday while she was helping neighbors set up a garage sale in the 200 block of North Larch Avenue.
Disorderly conduct, reckless driving
A 31-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 700 block of South Mitchell Avenue was cited for disorderly conduct at approximately 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9. Police said the man yelled in the street near his home and threatened another person.
He was released.
On Friday, Aug. 7, an 18-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 200 block of East Gladys Avenue was cited at Third and Illinois streets at about 9:30 p.m. on charges of reckless driving, improper lighting and loud exhaust. He was also released.
What's next
The Honda Accord theft remains under investigation. No court dates or follow-up actions have been announced for any of the six incidents. Residents with information about the car theft or e-bike theft can contact the Elmhurst Police Department.
