Elmhurst police arrested a 47-year-old man on two counts of domestic battery after responding to a 911 call at his home in the 600 block of Albert Street.

The call came in around 11 p.m. Oct. 12, according to Patch, which first reported the incident. Officers took the man to DuPage County Jail.

The home sits in the only Elmhurst neighborhood west of Route 83. Police have not released the suspect's name or announced a court date.

In a separate case, a 47-year-old Berkeley man was arrested near the intersection of York Street and Butterfield Road. He faces five charges: possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, driving an uninsured vehicle, improper lighting and driving with expired license plates.

Officers booked him into DuPage County Jail.

The York and Butterfield arrest sits along the I-290 corridor, where Elmhurst police have stepped up drug interdiction work in recent months. On Sept. 8, Deputy Police Chief Brett Kaczorowski said several suburban law enforcement agencies had coordinated to stop dangerous drugs, including fentanyl, from moving out of Chicago into Elmhurst and neighboring suburbs along I-290.

That effort produced 10 felony drug arrests between Aug. 28 and Sept. 2, an unusually high number for the department. The latest arrest at York and Butterfield is a separate case, but it occurred in the same stretch of road that prompted the earlier crackdown.

Elmhurst police also investigated threatening text messages reported by a resident in the 400 block of West St. Charles Road. The resident told officers a stranger had sent several messages demanding money. Police have not said whether they identified a suspect.

In a fourth incident, an officer tried to stop a reported stolen vehicle around 5:30 a.m. near Interstate 290 and North Avenue. The driver sped west on I-290.

No arrest was reported.

Investigations into all four cases remain open, according to the Patch report. The names of the suspects in the domestic battery and drug cases have not been made public.
