Niki Conforti, a Republican, is running for the U.S. House of Representatives in Illinois' 6th Congressional District in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election. Democrat Sean Casten is also running.

Asked why she is seeking office, Conforti said in our candidate questionnaire: "I am seeking elected office to stand up for the hardworking people of Illinois' 6th Congressional District, give everyday citizens a true voice in Washington, and bring accountability back to the U.S. House of Representatives."

Candidate information

Party: Republican

Family: "I am a single mom," Conforti said in our questionnaire.

Education: "MBA, Healthcare Administration, George Washington University, WDC" and "BA, Economics, The University of Chicago, Chicago," Conforti said in our questionnaire.

Previous elected office: "Elected Precinct Committeeman, Milton Township," Conforti said in our questionnaire.

Experience and public service

Asked about her work history, Conforti said in our questionnaire: "For the last 9 years, I have been an Energy Consultant. Energy is a complicated, and rapidly evolving industry, and we need people in Congress that understand the industry to be able to make meaningful policy that will benefit the people. Previously, I spent 12 years working in large healthcare systems. Many of those years were as a director … Additionally, I've been a small business owner, owning a boutique staffing firm - so I understand the burden too many regulations places on small business owners."

Conforti describes herself as a lifelong resident of the western suburbs of Chicago and the daughter of a legal immigrant, according to her Facebook page and Chicago Sun-Times questionnaire.

On the issues

Top priority: Asked about the single most important issue, Conforti said in our questionnaire: "The single most important issue Congress must address in the next two years is the affordability and cost-of-living crisis, which is forcing hardworking families in the 6th District to deplete their savings to maintain their standard of living."

Healthcare: Conforti said in our questionnaire: "The Affordable Care Act has been a disaster for Illinois, shrinking consumer choices to just two options in many counties while causing premiums and out-of-pocket costs to skyrocket. I adamantly oppose a government takeover of healthcare like 'Medicare for All' … instead, I will draw on my 12 years of experience in healthcare to champion patient-focused, free-market reforms."

Immigration: Conforti said in our questionnaire: "As the proud daughter of a legal immigrant, I fully support legal immigration and recognize its benefits to our economy. Congress, though, must enforce a commonsense border policy to stop the influx of illegal immigration that is draining local resources and threatening public safety."

Federal spending: Conforti said in our questionnaire: "With the national debt topping 100% of GDP and surpassing $40 trillion, Congress must immediately halt its runaway borrowing and reject raising the debt ceiling." She said she would look at possible legislation to enact "strict statutory spending caps across the federal budget."

Energy: Conforti said in our questionnaire: "As an energy consultant, I know that overregulation and green energy mandates stifle our energy sector and drive-up utility rates for families and small businesses."

National security: Conforti said in our questionnaire: "My approach to national security and foreign intervention is guided by an 'America First' philosophy: the federal government must prioritize domestic safety, economic stability, and border integrity before expending American tax dollars overseas."

Conforti has received endorsements from the American Arab Chamber of Commerce and Illinois Family Action, according to Ballotpedia.
